Paying for healing?

Should energy healers charge money for their services?

I feel called to write on this subject, as I see it being discussed in so many groups on social media lately. There seems to be a popular opinion that energy healers should offer their services for free. Charging money goes against the idea that if you are helping another individual better themselves, and raise their vibration, you shouldn’t profit from it – knowing that you helped should be enough of a payment.

Another popular opinion is that, you can heal yourself, so why would you pay someone else to do it?

I’m just going to say it. Everyone is welcome to have their own views of how the world works, and should work. My perception of these statements is however much different. Do I think Energy Healers should charge for their services? Absolutely.

And here’s why:

First of all, we live in a world where, unfortunately, the exchange for virtually anything required for survival is money. If I could pay my mortgage and power bill with good intentions I would. If the gas station would accept a meal for their family in exchange to fill my tank, I’d be cooking up a storm. My kid loves dance with her entire being, so that should be enough of a payment for her to be in class. But it’s not.

Secondly, think about how many things you pay for every month, to help you to feel better. Do you go to the hair salon? Massage? Manicure? Pedicure? Movies? Eat out? Why are these services worth exchanging money for, but one or several energy healing sessions is not?

Why do you want an individual who has invested in themselves, their own time and money, who has gone through their own healing journey and has personal experience (trust me, you want help from a healer who has gone through it themselves), and has taken the time to develop their own gifts and learn how to be a guide to others…

to now sit with you, and guide you for free?

Can you heal yourself? Yes! In fact, nobody can do it for you. You have to do it yourself. That doesn’t mean that you can do it all by yourself.

Here’s the thing, each of us has a part of ourselves that doesn’t want to go too deep. It thinks that, by keeping us from seeing certain parts of ourselves, or admitting certain things to ourselves, it is keeping us safe. This part of us is our ego. And our ego runs the show.

Even when we are truly committed to doing the deep inner work and healing, our ego will only let us go so far before it stops us. At this point the healing stops, and we are just coping. We become so good at coping that we believe ourselves to be healed. Except the triggers are still there, we just become better at suppressing them. The extreme emotions are still there, we just catch ourselves before we let them out. We still put the blame of all our circumstances on everyone and everything outside of us. Our ego won’t let us look in the mirror.

An experienced Energy Healer will sit with you and guide you through the deepest parts of yourself, and they will help you bypass your ego. It’s like hiring a tour guide to take you through a place you’ve never been before. You are still the tourist, you are still having your own experience, but the guide is making it easier for you to navigate to save you extra unnecessary time and stress, or from missing out on the best and most important parts.

I am speaking all of this from personal experience. I have spent years going into the deepest darkest shadows of my life. I will be forever grateful to my energy healer friends who sat with me and helped my past my own ego to heal belief systems, triggers, and traumas – some of which were so deep I didn’t realize how much they were affecting me in my day to day life. I know that I couldn’t have done it myself. I know how different I feel, how much freer I feel, having done the work.

Did I ever feel like I wasted money on a session? Absolutely. Do I regret all the money I spent over the years on the sessions that worked? Absolutely not!

What I found was that I needed to find the help that resonated with me. It not only had to be the right modality, but also the right person. I needed to find the healer(s) that clicked with me. And when I found them I knew immediately.

So the next time you question whether healers should charge for their work, ask yourself this – Is this really true, or is this my ego trying to prevent me from real healing?

Lastly, do you appreciate the things in your life as much, that you got for free?
